Rihanna should think before she speaks.Or should that be tweets? Otherwise she?s just asking to be censored more than usual.
The video for her new single, S&M, which sees Ri-Ri writhing about the floor and suggestively tucking into a banana, has already sparked controversy and the radio edition of the track hasn?t faired much better. Radio 1 has renamed the track Come On and dubbed out the words ?sex?, ?chains? and ?whips? from the chorus, leading fans to tweet Rihanna about the changes. And the singer didn?t appear to be happy at all.
Responding to her fans? comments, she wrote: ?Are you f***ing kidding me??? I?m on it!?
When one of her followers asked if she approved of the new tamer version of the single, she answered: ?Absolutely NOT!?
But Rihanna was set to be silenced in another way, as a Radio 1 spokesperson has actually revealed the toned down track was sent through by her recording company Def Jam, in order to up the chances of it being aired during the day: ?During daytime hours, as younger audiences are listening, we are playing the radio edit which is called Come On. However, we will continue to play the original track in specialist shows with an appropriate introduction.
?It is common practice to play radio edits of certain tracks in daytime.?
Might be worth checking with the bosses before you let rip next time, Ri. Just saying.
Or was it all a big PR stunt?
You?d think Rihanna could rely on her hair rather than her hair-raising antics to score publicity? see what we mean below.
